I have been with the same cardiologist and cardiac surgeon for 22 years. Open Heart Surgery, double by pass & replace a bicuspid aortic valve with a porcine valve, Later on, I had a MI and stents, then more stents later on (twice). The first porcine valve failed at year 15 and was taver procedure replaced with another porcine. They told me I have room to fit one more taver procedure valve inside the present valve. The past seven years have been event free and we hope to keep it up. Perspective; Listen to what the doctors say and try to live a healthier life. Don't succumb to fear, but embrace life to its fullest. Be kind and try and help others. Have fun. I look forward to hearing your future perspectives. Thanks for sharing.

Congrats on the new Substack! Such a great platform that I wish I had discovered myself before I tried to create my blog and podcast through Wordpress. I also was thinking I would go into Cards after medical school but found love in Family Medicine and ultimately technology. But still have a soft spot for cardiology given my roots in Exercise Physiology & Cardiac Rehab prior to medical school. I just migrated everything to Substack (my NerdMDs blog, my TechDadCO blog/reviews, and the soon to launch Podcast "Efficiency Unlocked: Nerd Tested, MD Approved!" Check it out: http://rewskidotcom.substack.com

A very promising mission statement here, and as a primary care doc I look forward to reading some good cardiology points, and "dropping the curtain" on this life in medicine that drains and sustains us! Enjoyed your poem too.

I've been writing here for a little over a year, and have found it to be energizing... despite the fact that I need to exercise more in my free time. Speaking of which, there is stil time before midnight to hit the Peloton, so I'll say thanks for the introduction, and stop by my substack anytime!

(I also "comp" any fellow health care folks with free upgraded subscriptions because I enjoy the feedback and am honored by the audience :)
